Vision Test, Kyung-Nyun Kim Richards
206 Kyung-Nyun Kim Richards Vision Test
Santa Fe Spring, CA & Merrick, NY Korean Expatriate Literature & Cross-Cultural Communications 2016 089304220X / 9780893042202 First Paperback New Perfect bound 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 Gianpiero Actis To the memory of my mother Lady Ohm, Bong Soon
Visiont Test is a bilingual (Korean-English) poetry book, #2 in the Korean Bilingual Poetry Series co-published by the Korean Expatriate Literature Group and Cross-Cultural Communications. “Kyung-Nyun Richards’ poetry is powered by her integrity, her honesty and her wisdom, all of which exemplify her strengths and her delicacy. One senses a real experience of her knowledge of life’s ‘dismays and rainbows’, to quote Dylan Thomas, in her writings. For me, one cannot separate the woman from the poet, the poet from the woman: they are one. Her accessibility is a bonus and her poetic voice rings true. One finds a calmness and a warmth in a poet like her.” ―Peter Thabit Jones Poet, dramatist, editor & publisher of The Seventh Quarry

207 Labra, Carilda Oliver--Daniela Gioseffi & Enildo A. Garcia, Translators; Gregory Rabassa, Foreword Dust Disappears

My best poetry is that which expresses erotic love, but the love between a man and a woman integrated with universal love. For me, poetry does many things: tells truth; creates and praises beauty; contributes to intellectual pleasure; allows us to unite with all humankind as it denounces injustice and captures the essence of life. --Carilda Oliver Labra

The Minstrel's Song, Lappen, Alyssa A.
210 Lappen, Alyssa A. The Minstrel's Song
Merrick, New York, USA Cross-Cultural Communications 2015 0893049212 / 9780893049218 First Hard Cover New Poetry 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 Helen Bar-Lev To all my beloved friends and family
"With delicacy and a refined lyricism, The Minstrel's Song embarks upon ancient and modern themes like the meaning of language and poetry, the presence and absence of life and the purpose of Faith. Alyssa A. Lappen is able to navigate with courage in the complexity of her questioning and visionary understanding of life’s ephemeral ways. She is a poet of great wisdom and her voice is both soft and courageous." --Marjorie Agosín, poet, author, essayist and winner of Chile's Gabriela Mistral Medal of Honor for Life Achievement "Some poems call attention to themselves like a street hawker in a people-flooded market. Indeed, some poets call attention to themselves, banging the drum of their ego. Alyssa A. Lappen’s poems, like her good self, are quieter; and the integrity of her poetic voice is strengthened by the fact that she communicates via a calm and reflective intelligence." ---Peter Thabit Jones, Welsh poet and author, with Aeronwy Thomas, of the "Dylan Thomas Walking Tour of Greenwich Village, New York"

Beverly Matherne is one of a kind, a rare jewel. Born and bred in Cajun Country, out of the deepest rots of American soil, these poems sing the body beautiful with plaintive wail and lusty earthiness. These poems grew out of two languages, Cajun French and American English, and they're hot--hot as Tabasco. They're sweet--sweet as sugar. And they're cool--cool as Mississippi mud. Yeah! --Judith Minty, Poet, Recipient of the U.S. Awarcd of the International Poetry Forum
